The thirst project Jose Flores
The thirst project is a non-profit organization in America which aims to bring safe drinking water to communities around the world. The problem was that almost 1 billion on our planet don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water and proper sanitation. Many children die every day from diseases caused by contaminated water. 80% of all global disease are water-borne and result from drinking contaminated water. The average distance a women walks to collect water is 3.75 miles, that’s a lot of miles for a woman to walk in hot temperatures. The task of water-collecting falls on young girls, leaving them no time for energy for school. If there is not an education then it’s impossible to break the cycle of poverty. Most people aren't aware of this situation at all, or simply don’t know just how serious it is. The water is right below the ground, but for most communities in these developing nations, they simply can’t reach it because they can’t afford to drill down to it.

The solution to this problem is water. All we have to do to solve this problem is build freshwater wells but that we need your help. The cost to build a freshwater well in the developing nations is from between 7,800 in Uganda to 20,000 in Kenya. All they have to is reach the water that already exists in aquifers usually only 100-300 feet underground. Only 1 well can provide up to 500 people with clean water and save many lives. Lack of water in your body can cause dehydration, heat exhaustion, and seizures. You can be a active participant by helping the thirst project raise money and asking people. When you bring safe water into a community you cure disease overnight.
I view life differently as a result of knowing the difference clean accessible water makes someone life. For example I learn to care more about water and to conserve it more .We should appreciate our water in California because we are on a drought. Also we should care about our water because we need it for almost everything. Some of the things we need water for are farming and our bodies because 70% of our body weight is water. In my fund raising experience I was ask questions like where is this money going or they didn’t know about that about the water crisis was going on in Africa. I feel that the dollar raised will make a dramatic difference because if everyone donates a lot of money can be gathered and change someone’s life. I felt very confident about asking people for help because I knew that money was going somewhere that they need it. To raise my dollar I got it from my own savings .I felt we need to do something when I became aware of the negative effects of lack of clean accessible water.
